SUPERMILK the North London based indie punk quartet are set to release their new single ’Many Thanks’ via Specialist Subject Records with a radio impact/focus date set for 26.7.  Digital Distribution is via BELIEVE.  ‘Many Thanks’ is the band’s second single from their upcoming third album, HIGH PRECISION GHOSTS and clocks in at a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’, 1 min and 42 seconds!  The perfect length for a power pop ripper of a track!

SUPERMILK is an indie rock band and music project from London, England.  Originally the solo recording endeavour of multi instrumentalist Jake Popyura, SUPERMILK has been releasing music since 2017 with a full band incarnation active since 2022.  Formed from the ashes of Popyura's previous band DOE, bassist and lead vocalist Jake took his art in a new direction on debut LP Death Is The Best Thing For You, before releasing LP #2 Four By Three just over a year later.  With these two albums being entirely solo records, LP #3 HIGH PRECISION GHOSTS is the first album to feature SUPERMILK as a full band, with Jake at the helm assisted by current and previous members of NERVUS, WORRIERS, ONSIND, PERSONAL BEST and NATHY SG.

Influenced by the first slew of UK Punk, American New Wave, American Pre-Grunge and MidWest Emo, SUPERMILK utilise the energy and attitude of those genres and fuse it with urgent choruses that detail their deepest thoughts on everyday life in their own special way.  For example, when speaking of the meaning behind the new single, frontperson Jake says, ‘“Many Thanks’ is about the sometimes unhealthy relationship many artists have with releasing music, and the feeling of alienation that comes with seeing people lose their minds over bands that you think are objectively terrible. It often feels impossible to cut through the noise and have your art reach the people who it's intended for, particularly when everyone else is shouting just as loud as you, if not louder. The only way to keep sane is to make music for yourself, be your own band's biggest fan and fuck everyone else... but that's often easier said than done in the age of social media. In a nutshell: "Comparison is the thief of joy."

The new SUPERMILK record come at a pivotal time for Jake as in January 2024 he announced that he had been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, better known in the UK as Motor Neuron Disease), a rare and fatal neurodegenerative illness, but that SUPERMILK would continue, stating “[we start] work on the third LP next month, we have shows lined up, and you bet your able-bodied ass we'll be ploughing (sic) ahead with those plans, even if I have to sit down for all of it.”

‘’Many Thanks'’ is the second single (it follows previous ‘Sweat’) to be taken from SUPERMILK’s third album, HIGH PRECISION GHOSTS, set for release on 9th August.  SUPERMILK is Jake Popyura: vocals, bass. Em Foster: guitars, vocals. Charlie Jamison: guitars.  Jason Cavalier: drums, percussion. ‘Sweat’ was written and performed by SUPERMILK and was recorded in February and March 2024 at The Bookhouse, London.  ‘Sweat’ was produced, engineered and mixed by Rich Mandell.  ‘Many Thanks’ was mastered by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering, Chicago USA.
